The knowledge economy is the current phase in the evolution of human endeavour, which has progressed rapidly through the industrial age and the technological and information age to the present focus on human capital, knowledge, expertise and innovation. This advancement has been driven largely by globalisation and sustainability imperatives that have demanded continual innovation and creativity to establish competitive advantage and long term viability of international organisations.
